Let's Educate Children In Need (LECIN) is a non-profit organisation reimagining education for young children from underserved communities.
We believe that learning has been missing from our classrooms for years. While millions of children attend school every day, many leave without ever getting the opportunity to think independently, express themselves confidently, or connect with the world around them.
At LECIN, we are working to change that.
Our interventions begin in Anganwadis and continue into the early grades of government schools (Grade 1 and Grade 2), ensuring that children receive continuous support during the most critical years of their learning journey. Instead of short-term interventions, we work with the same schools and communities over multiple years to build strong foundations for every child.
Our approach replaces rote learning with play-based, activity-based, and experience-based learning, helping children learn through curiosity, exploration, conversations, stories, nature, and real-life experiences.
For us, reading, writing, language, and numeracy are essential but they are not the end goal of education.
We see these as tools that enable children to become lifelong learners.
The purpose of education is to help every child:
Think - ask questions, reason and solve problems.
Express - communicate ideas, emotions, and experiences through different mediums.
Connect - build meaningful relationships with themselves, their community, nature, and the world around them.
These three principles shape every classroom, every lesson plan, every activity, and every decision we make.
Our educators work directly with children inside government Anganwadis and primary schools while simultaneously building the capacities of Anganwadi Workers and government teachers.
Through thoughtfully designed learning experiences, exposure visits, storytelling, theatre, books, art, science, nature exploration, and hands-on activities, we create classrooms where children are active participants in their own learning, not passive recipients of information.

A world where government schools inspire the same confidence as any other school, where children are known by their names rather than numbers, and where learning is no longer limited to memorising textbooks but becomes a joyful, meaningful part of everyday life.
